ABC family sprang into action following the Asian Tsunami of 26/4/2004 despite this being the end of the year and most were in a holiday mood. All rallied around spontaneously to reach out to the needy countrymen.
The employees voluntarily agreed to the cancellation of the Staff party and wanted all expenses related to this event channelled to a Tsunami Victims fund. They also contributed a day's wage towards this fund. These collections were equally matched by the company.
These funds were utilized to purchase provisions which included cooked lunch for 300 persons and provisions such as milk, cereal, canned fish, water, baby bottles and items such as cups and plates etc.
These items were distributed to Tsunami victims in Wadduwa, Kaluthara areas in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy. |
